A group of students along with Professor D. Schaffzin and Professor Ritz are reviving the Federal Bar Association here at Cecil C. The Federal Bar Association hosts various CLE’s, networking opportunities, and events to keep federal attorneys up-to-date on the latest legal issues.
Law school chapters of the FBA provide countless educational and networking opportunities, especially for students who are interested in working, externing, interning, or clerking for the U.S. Attorney’s office, the Federal Public Defender, firms that frequently do litigation in federal court, or for federal judges.
As a brand new organization, all of the executive board positions are open—President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and possibly a 1L position. If you’re interested at all in running, sign up for the Federal Bar Association TWEN page and submit a short statement-of-interest (no longer than one page) on the TWEN page’s dropbox by Thursday, 2/25 at 10 a.m., and attend next week’s meeting on Thursday, 2/25 in room 233 at noon and be prepared to give about a one minute, informal statement about why you’re running and why you should win. You must be present at the meeting to run. Check out http://www.fedbar.org/Divisions/Law-Student-Division.aspx for more information.
The FBA is a phenomenal way to meet federal judges and attorneys and learn about federal practice. We hope to see you all next week!
