Dear 2L and 3L Students:

Enrollment in the Law School’s Externship Course is an incredible way to earn valuable legal experience and academic credit while working under the supervision of judges and practicing attorneys.   If you are not one of the students already enrolled in the Spring 2017 Externship Course, I write to share that there remain a small number of field placements available through the Course, including a newly formalized placement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Among them are the following:

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Memphis District Office of Counsel (see description here)
  • U.S. Bankruptcy Court (two credits; 8 weekly placement hours)
  • Memphis Area Legal Services – Education Law/Partnership for Education Advocacy and Parity (two credits; 8 weekly placement hours)
  • Memphis Area Legal Services – Consumer Unit (two credits; 8 weekly placement hours)
  • Memphis Area Legal Services – Family Law/Senior Benefits (two credits; 8 weekly placement hours)
  • Memphis City Attorney’s Office – Litigation Unit (two credits; 8 weekly placement hours)
  • Shelby County Health Department (two credits; 8 weekly placement hours)
