Just The Beginning-A Pipeline Organization’s Share the Wealth Judicial Clerkship Program

Summer is approaching fast and we want to make sure your network of law students is aware of this incredible opportunity for rising 3L’s and law school graduates interested in federal judicial clerkships. We are asking that you please forward this opportunity to your student bodies, specifically your affinity and diversity organizations (BLSA, LLSA, etc.) to encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity!

In connection with Just The Beginning-A Pipeline Organization’s , six federal judges will be conducting a round of interviews to fill 2019-2020 clerkship positions in their chambers. The Share the Wealth Judicial Law Clerk Program is a referral program run by judges who feel that it is of the upmost importance to encourage more minorities to compete for federal judicial clerkships. The participating judges are below:

  • Judge Raymond Jackson (Eastern District of Virginia);
  • Judge Linda Parker (Eastern District of Michigan);
  • Judge Benita Pearson (Northern District of Ohio),
  • Judge Margaret Seymour (District of South Carolina);
  • Judge Ivan Lemelle (Eastern District of Louisiana);
  • Judge Tanya Pratt (Southern District of Indiana);
  • United States Magistrate Judge Ivan Davis (Eastern District of Virginia).

To apply, students must log on to their OSCAR account and submit a separate application package via OCSAR to each judge whom they would like to consider their application (see the attached announcement for further instructions on how to apply). The application deadline is Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 5:00 pm EST.

Attached is the official Share the Wealth Judicial Clerkship Program announcement with more information on the program and how to apply. Again, we are asking that you please forward this announcement to your network of law students and affinity organizations.

With any questions, please contact Pamela Thorbs, Judicial Administrator & Assistant to the Honorable Raymond A. Jackson, at Pamela_Thorbs@vaed.uscourts.gov.
